Why Primarily Food?
Why Primarily Food???

Food4Everyone is underlined by the basic principle that human beings have a basic right to eat and this need has to be met first. In other words, we do believe in "buying a man a rod and teaching him to fish", but we just happen to believe that he / she will learn to fish a whole lot better and faster with a full tummy.

Guestimates suggest that 50% of Cambodians under the age of 10 are malnourished, not starving, but simply malnourished. It is now well understood that the consequences of malnourishment include cognitive impairment. In other words, Cambodian children’s brains will not grow or develop properly unless they eat well. Clearly, the long term result of this is that 50% of the country could potentially be inhabited by people with intellectual impairment. For less than 50 cents per day, Food4Everyone can stop this from happening. We believe we have a social and moral duty to do so if we possibly can, and we can!

Food4Everyone clearly acknowledges the importance of education as one of the keys to breaking the cycle of poverty and we provide educational resources whenever there is a gap in service delivery and we have the ability to do so. The reality, however, is that in Cambodia there are many situations which require humanitarian intervention, where self-sufficiency and sustainability are not realistic objectives.

Food4Everyone, for instance, continues to provide a feeding program to the dying Aids victims of Kampong Cham Hospital (where they are not provided with food), so that their suffering can be eased and so that they can die with some dignity.
